Budget (including currency): around 1200€

Country: germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: basically everything (cs2, work ...)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): no

Hello, I want to build my first pc and dont know much about that topic. A friend of mine suggested me this configuration. Would like your thoughts on it and if u would change something? is it currently a good time to buy a pc or should you wait? Would really like some advice. Thanks in advance. This build would cost me 1200€.

Some thoughts of mine:

Ryzen 7 7700 instead of 5 9600x (would also be 30€ cheaper)

Rx 7700xt instead of 7800xt (is 80€ more worth it)

Are the vrms good enough? (and what if i pick the ryzen 7 7700)

Hey, welcome to the Forum!

There will really be no difference between the Ryzen 7700 and a 9600x in terms of gaming performance.

I will recommend 2x16 GB sticks of RAM instead of 4x8GB, Ryzen 7000 and 9000 does not like 4 sticks at all. Also, 6000Mhz CL30 is the sweetspot.

I also changed the power supply to a fully modular unit that also comes with 7 year warranty.

The VRMs and VRM cooling on the ASRock B850M Pro-a is enough for a 7700 or a 9600x.

Thanks for the answer. Do i really need that psu? would cost me 40€ more. 70 vs 110.

And why not 4 sticks of 8gb ram? I dont really like the look on 2 sticks. would u recommend getting 2x16first  and maybe upgrading later on?

But do yout think the build is decent? And would you buy it now or is it a bad time to buy pcs at the moment? Thx

No you do not. The Seasonic G12 is fine if its that much cheaper.  Its not showing at 70 Euros cheaper in PCPartPicker..

When it comes to the RAM its due to the limitation of the memory controller. Getting 4 sticks or RAM to work at 6000Mhz speed is basically impossible.

Its not about what you like or not, its about making it work.  Unfortunately this is the case for Ryzen 7000 and 9000 😞

I think now is a somewhat decent time to build a system. If you want to wait for the 'perfect time' to buy parts then you will wait forever.

Yeah, the prices differ here. So what i understood is:

2x16gb cl30 6000 ram

Ryzen 7 7700 (also cheaper than the 9600x)

thx for your help.

Aha, fair enough.  The G12 is okay.

Yeah, thats it! 🙂

I had a Ryzen 7700/x for 2 years and it was a great gaming CPU.

I also personally use the Fury Beast 6000Mhz CL30 with my two AM5 builds, works great.

Rest looks good!

If you want to save a bit more money then the Ryzen 7700 non X actually comes with a stock cooler that is plenty enough for the CPU.

You can of course upgrade this later but you can save the 44 Euros on the cooler right now if you want.

To answer the "is it a good time to buy?"

The answer is no and it wont be for a few months cause of the new or better said still fresh releases and the GPU landscaping being a hellscape still

You can find some good deals and reasonable prices but it'll depend

Also why didnt you use the DE version of PCPP to ACTUALLY have an idea of prices?

Any who @Hinjima made a great list that I would go with but if you are pinching pennies this is a watered down version ie using cheaper parts that wont change the perfromance in any way that can be easily perceived

https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/RXrRRV

IF you can find the 7700 non x for cheaper then 10000% go for it as it is better than even the 9600x

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

Why are you recommending a Peerless Assassin cooler on a 7600 that comes with a stock cooler on a penny pinching build? 🙂

Also the Patriot Viper Venom DDR5 are 43.3mm in height while the RAM clearance on the Peerless Assassin SE120 is 42mm.

Sure you can move the front fan up a little but thats not always possible.

Ram clearance was not smt I was aware of so that is my mistake

Another choice I had considered was the arctic freezer 36 for about 14 euros less but IMO a good air cooler is a good investement due to how easy it is to re use without any issues (at least in most occasions) not the f36 isnt good but the peerless assassin has proven itself over time more
