Hello everyone,

I recently built my first pc using parts I got for free from my old job salvaged parts from my laptop and new ones from online market place.
The PC turns on and runs "just fine" for about 2 to 10 minutes and then crashes, showing a blue screen with the memory management issue.
How do I know the problem isn't due to corrupted files or windows or ifs due to pc component?
I think its my motherboard (salvage from old company computer that already had problems) but how do I make sure without buying a new one?

My parts list :

- Intel core i9 11900k

- asrock z590m pro4

- corsair vengence 32go x2 ddr4 3200

- asrock intel b580

- corsaire power supply 750w

- crusial 1 to mvme

- 1 to hdd

test with one ram stick at a time and in different slots.

The simple answer is: you don't. The only 100% reliable way to test that is to install Windows fresh on a new drive and see if the problem has been fixed. There is the SFC /scannow command, but that won't guarantee a fix if your OS is heavily corrupted.

You can check the SMART data on your drives with something like CrystalDiskInfo, to make sure they're not causing the problem.

This is a very new part for an old motherboard, have you tried using the integrated graphics on the CPU only?

I would certainly run a software test on the memory and check out the drives, before you buy a new motherboard. Is the memory running stock, or do you have XMP enabled?

The problem with building a PC from a selection of used/salvaged parts is exactly this kind of problem, I'm afraid, since you don't know what (if any) of the parts are "known good" it leaves everything in question.

Even with the ram being new you could have still gotten a faulty stick.

If the error is persistent, it usually a faulty RAM stick or a faulty memory controller.
