Budget (including currency): $1000 USD, could go more if good offer.  I have a $200 gift card to Newegg, so I'm gonna buy at least 1 component there.

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Marvel Rivals, RDR2, Monster Hunter, Final Fantasy, future games

Old -> New

CPU: Intel Core i5 6600k -> Ryzen 7 7700X

GPU: RTX 2060 -> RTX 2060

Motherboard: ASUS Z170-k -> ??? (Need help)

SSD: Main: EDGE SE847 (240 GB) Other: Samsung 870 EVO 2TB -> Samsung 870 EVO 2TB

RAM: Not sure how to tell, I have 32GB at 2133MHz Form Factor DIMM, I couldn't find a label, but I have 4 sticks of corsair something

PSU: Thermaltake TR2 600W -> ???

Anything else: probably 10 years old, will probably need upgrade

My main reason for upgrading is because my motherboard and CPU are pretty outdated and I've had them for like 10 years now.

For the CPU, I think the Ryzen 7 7700X is good.  It seems like a small step down from 7800X3D, but with a significant cost reduction.

For the GPU, I got an RTX 2060 a few years ago and I think it's good enough for now.

The motherboard is mainly where I am stuck.  I don't know a lot about motherboards and am hoping for suggestions.  I don't need WIFI, I have an ethernet cable.

For the SSD, I started with the EDGE one, but later added the Samsung as an extra drive.  I think I will make the Samsung the main drive and maybe use the EDGE as a secondary.

For the RAM, I'm pretty sure I have no idea what I have or if it's worth upgrading.

Other things:

My keyboard and mouse are good.

My monitor is a Sceptre M25 165Hz, which I really like.  My desk isn't big enough for 2 monitors, but I want to ability to upgrade to a maximum of 2 monitors eventually.  I'll never need more than 2.

If there's anything I should add or need more clarity on let me know.  Thank you in advance for any help.

Something like this would fit in your budget. You have DDR4 ram which can't be used on AM5. For the motherboard there's decent ones in the 150$ range like the one I included but there's other options available if you like them more. You might need a new cooler the 7700X doesn't come with one, but if you already have a decent cooler and the mounting hradware then you won't. I've also included a GPU, it can fit in you current budget. The 7700XT would be a major upgrade over what you have currently. It's also important to know what PSU you have to make sure it can accommodate these parts.

Thank you for the recommendations.  I looked and my PSU is Thermaltake TR2 600W.

The PSU is ok. If you decide to also get a 7700XT as part of your upgrade it should be able to handle it without problem. I'd recommend taking a look at PC part picker and browsing around to see if there's anything you'd prefer or if any of the parts listed happen to cost much more at newegg. Other than that there's not much else I can recommend.
