So, i’m new to RAM ,,overclocking”, the only thing i did with my latest builds was just enabling XMP/EXPO on. In my current build i have a 9800x3d, Corsair Vengeance 6400mhz cl32, and X870E Aorus Elite. I know the sweet spot for amd 7000 and 9000 is usually 6000 cl30, but if i’m able to make MLCK:ULCK ratio 1:1 (As i believe: FLCK:2133.33, MLCK: 3200, ULCK: 3200)
it will be even better right? But i’ve heard it may depend on something like silicon quality in my chip? If it’s worse it may not be able to run 6400 1:1? If i won’t be able to do it how do i change my ram to 6000mhz cl30, is just setting ram speed to 6000mhz in expo settings and setting some recommended cl30 timings enough or i will need to do some time consuming and complicated tests for it? Also do i need some third party apps for changing MLCK, ULCK and FLCK or i can do it all in bios? What timings do you recommend if I’ll have to run cl30, will it be fine if i copy original corsair cl30 timings (30-36-36-76), because that what a stock 6000 cl30 corsair come with? Sending love to someone that will answer this <3. This forum never disappoints me unlike others.

EDIT: And forgot to mention voltage, will i need to do something with it if i change memory to 6000 30 or just keep it as 6400 32 and it’ll be fine?

Yes, not all CPUs can do this.

You can usually just leave EXPO/XMP enabled and change the frequency manually. Doing some stability testing is a good idea when overclocking, but if you only have a gaming PC (i.e. nothing on the PC you care about) it is not necessary.

No and yes.

If EXPO/XMP is enabled it will change this for you.

A manual overclock would need manual settings for everything (frequency, timings and voltage).

Sounds reasonable, but if you only change the frequency (assuming multiple EXPO/XMP profiles are not available) I think it'll use the timings of the higher frequency.

So can you give me a really quick tutorial on what should i do kinda step by step? And what do you mean by the last thing? ,,It’ll use the timings of the higher frequency”? I can’t use other timings on lower frequency? It has to be CL32?
