I've had this pc for about 4 - 5 years now and it runs okay (ran better when I got it out of the box but not a huge difference) and it runs high graphic intensive games well, but FORTNITE is its bane. I have everything put on the lowest setting, and even put it on directX11 and not a significant gain at all. And I usually load into the game at last stop for the battle bus and it's very annoying. I will list my specs bellow but I also hard reset my pc to factory settings, OC'd everything but to no major effect. (Keep in mind fortnite used to run flawlessly)

Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 5 3400G with Raedon Vega Graphics (OC'd to 4.1GHz)
Motherboard: Asus B450M-A Prime
Ram: 2666 MHz 16gb x1 (Unsure what brand, but OC'd to 2900+ MHz)
Graphics Card: Tuf Gaming GeForce 1650 Super (OC'd on Afterburner +1200 MHz Memory Clock and +100 MHz Core Clock)
SSD: WD_Black SN850X 1tb version
(I also have a 4tb external hard drive that i completely wiped aswell)
And my pc went to 120 c like 2 summers ago which resulted in the case panel coming off and fixed the temps ever since, now running at 65 - 70 c average whilst gaming

Costed me 1200$ CAD, now runs like a 500$ CAD pc. Is there any way to fix performance issues, if anything on fortnite?

Taking any and all suggestions!

Fortnite has had numerous updates over the years.  Just one of them...

https://www.fortnite.com/news/fortnite-on-pc-to-get-upgraded-visuals-in-v17-00

This will definitely impact your gear, which is stagnant while the games gets updates over time.  It's expected to run worse as the game wants to look better and be fresher.

I'd do a fresh reinstall of Windows, to clear any bloat from years of use.  Also, get another stick of RAM.  Single stick is never good, and loses performance to dual channel setups (2 sticks).

No, it's perfectly fine.  It's just that dual channel leverages 2 sticks to perform much better.  It's a nice cheap and easy upgrade.

If you want, you should upgrade that CPU as well. It was never a strong chip, and since you have a dedicated GPU you don't need the APU aspect of it.

Do you have any money for upgrades or just looking for tweaks?

I would have a very limited budget for the parts I would buy, but I am looking for the tweaking side of it for now. And yes, my CPU's graphic processing isn't needed at all with my card. I was going to upgrade my CPU to a Ryzen 5700X, something midrange but good. And I was going to get x2 16 gb ram cards preferably over 3000 MHz. And after all is said and done, might switch out the card for a Radeon RX 7800 XT (which yes, very pricey but will last forever)

Skip the 5700x unless cheaper than the 5600.  5600 is all you need for gaming, 5700x doesn';t give you more performance even with more cores.

Even 2x8GB would be better than 1x16.

Makes sense, I'm assuming with 2 ram cards it distributes the stress on two boards and just overall reduces stress? And I always like more cores, it just always feels better having basically the same thing going on (reducing loads on individual cores). I have a stupid AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400B and after upgrading from that I am just kind of obsessed in a way.

If it gives you peace of mind, go for it

Games use only a few cores usually, they don't spread the load.  But if price is the same or similar, rock it

Hello, I have a similar issue ... already posted this on PC gaming forum but maybe I should have posted here sorry.

Guys I need to ask for a huge amount of help, because I don't know what to do with my PC setup. There are 4 games that I really like to play : Warhammer Darktide , Total War Warhammer series, Medieval Dynasty and Baldurs Gate 3. All of them suffer from stutters( i.e. game freezes for a second or two every 10 to 15 seconds) when playing even on low settings (1080p and 1440p resolutions, but the stuttering is almost unnoticeable at higher resolutions than 1440p just lower fps). I just really want to play these games XD...so

Here is my setup:

Motherboard Gigabyte : AMD B550M K rev 1.0 Ultra Durable Motherboard
PSU: 1000 W
Graphics card : Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 12 GB
Processor : AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
Processor Cooling Unit : ANTEC A400i CPU Cooler
RAM : 16gb x 2 (total of 32gb) Kingston Fury 1600 Mhz DDR4
Operating System : Widows 10 pro 64bit
Monitor: AOC Monitor LED CQ27G2S 27” Gaming Curved 144Hz QHD (27“, 16:9, 2560x1440, VA, 144hz, 250 cd/m², 3000:1, 1 ms MPRT, 2xHDMI, DP)

The troubleshooting that I have done:

Lowering graphics settings ( including on different  lower resolutions)
Game specific optimizations ( any issues that could cause frame loss and stuttering with ingame settings, use of DLSS Tweaks for performance)
Disabling any unnecessary Windows background services
Disabling ftpm in BIOS
Clean uninstall and reinstall of graphics drivers ( tried even previous versions of drivers)
Cleaning and reapplying thermal paste ( CPU temp during gaming is 73 C' )

Please guys, is there anything else I can do? Because these games still stutter. Or do I need to consider an upgrade as unavoidable, and if so of which components?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. PLEASE...PLEASE HELP !

Reinstall Windows.  Not reset.  Reinstall.

Then install all the CPU, motherboard, GPU drivers there are.  Don't miss any.
