M-Discs don't require anything special on the software side.

Windows Explorer can burn discs all by itself.

If you need more features, ImgBurn can do just about anything related to burning discs.

any software protect corruption during burning

Every piece of burning software I've used over the last nearly thirty years has read the entire disc back and verified its contents before declaring the burn complete and ejecting the disc. If an error is encountered, the disc is declared bad and it asks for a new blank to try again.

I only used imgburn but I don't know if it's the best freeware. Is there any setting in it that you think is important to activate for good burning without errors?

I see that some Lite-On iHAS 122 models support M-Disc DVD but I have the Lite-On ATAPI iHAS 122 F EL06 model and I don't know if it supports M-Disc DVD burning. What is the best software to check and which software is good for updating the firmware of this drive?

Stop overthinking every single step of your backup process. Just make sure "verify" is checked so it will do that confidence check after burning.

Again, disc burning is a problem that was solved decades ago.

If you're that worried, burn two copies.

If the spec sheet for a DVD burner doesn't say it's capable of burning M-Discs, and/or it's not on the list, assume it's not capable of burning M-Discs. There are no special requirements for drives to burn Blu-Ray M-Discs (except that you use a Blu-Ray burner).

That's not something you need to be concerned with.

I thought since the original MDisc manufacturer went bankrupt, and IIRC verbatim started making them up there were lots of questions about whether it was the same now.

So you end up with things like this. (Reddit Post)

I don't know, it would make me hesitant to trust an optical media disc for long term storage. However as with anything, it should never be your only backup method.

this drive support M-Disc?

No. You keep listing a DVD drive. You can't burn BluRay discs in a DVD drive. You need a Blu-Ray Burner with M-Disc support if you want to do that. Firmware (software) will not change the hardware.

From what I'm reading, you may or may not find real M-Discs anyways. However even if they are Blu-Rays you still need a Blu-Ray burner.

There are M-disc DVD as well as BR. M-disc refers to the type of data layer, and can be used in both types of media.

the only requirement for burner to burn M-disc is power, Hance not all laser burners are compatible. if your drive burner don't list m-disc in spec, or don’t have the m-disc Logo on it, assume it’s not compatible.

i will also answer your NEXT question.

is it possible to mod laser burner FW with custom firmware to burn it anyway, yes. Would i trust the data on such DVD/BR, no.
