hi i’ve been looking at laptops to buy as my current on can’t hold a charge to well and can’t support the apps i run (lack of ram) and it’s black friday.

i’m currently in HS so nothing crazy expensive (budget of around $1500-$2000 if i can stay under $1500 that’s amazing)

i’m planning to major in engineering (either mechanical or electrical) and i'm looking at these:

  • m2 macbook air (or whatever is the best chip i can get for budget)

  • dell xps (either 13, 14 or 16)

  • lenovo thinkpad (maybe x1?)

i’d like:

  • at least 16gb ram with 32 preferred

  • good battery life

  • not to thick and heavy as ill be carrying it around

  • storage idc to much as if i can i’ll just throw a 2tb nvme drive into it

  • i need at least 1 display out as i plan to get a moniter and kb/mouse and dock it

I game sometimes but its not a top priority but they aren't the most demanding games

i currently use a macbook pro as its a hand me down but i use windows for desktop (i might end up bringing my desktop to college if i really need to use powerful software
