HDD only working externally

Yes, I took out a 6tb HDD that is working right now as I type and put the WD in it's place and nothing. I took the WD out and put back the 6tb and it was showed up.

What drives are these specifically? Is it possible the drive that's not working has the power disable "feature". (Google WD power disable).  This might explain why it doesn't work in a PC, and why it could work in an enclosure.

If it, it's an easy work around.

My 12TB WD drive only works when connected to a third-party enclosure. I've tried installing it directly into my PC, but it doesn't appear, even in Disk Management. I also swapped out an existing HDD with the WD drive, but still, nothing shows up.

Any ideas what's going on?

Is your SATA Data cable working, if you know of course?

This was the right answer thank you. I completely forgot this was a thing. I remember hearing about it years back.

I followed this video to fix the issue.
