I've mainly used this local store https://arvutitark.ee/en .

I totally understand that! 🙂

I like to buy new parts as well in case I have to RMA / return the product due to faults

If you are able to push the budget to 550 then this would be a damn good choice.

If you can't then a 7700 XT would also be a great upgrade over your Radeon 6600.

Hello!

I have a bit of an urge to upgrade something on my PC but I'm not sure what or if I should upgrade right now.

But if it's not too costly I'm open to any improvements to any of my parts for better performance and visuals.

Budget and Location: Estonia 500€

Aim: Playing strategy games from paradox, RPG games like Fallout, Cyberpunk or other big single player titles, I also like to use mods.

The base idea is for my fps to stay smoothly above my monitor refresh rate of 75Hz and look as good as it can be.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard

A Radeon 7800 XT would be a great upgrade for this build.

Would it also be worthwhile jumping up to the 5900X for extra cores for larger mods/ amounts of mods?

That would be way over budget though. The 7800XT I linked is 20 euros over budget by itself.

I would say no to that either way, a 5700X3D would be a better upgrade.

Ah fair enough, and I was just asking generally. Also used this guy could benefit more from a 6800XT or higher for less than the retail of a 7800XT so there's that.

That is if he/she go and buy a used 6800 XT.

From what I see on Estonian websites is that the 6800 XT is 669 Euros and up while the 7800 XT is at 520 Euros.

7800 XT is over twice the speed of the OP's RX 6600 and more likely to be the bottleneck in most games, especially high fidelity single player games and the older games like Fallout tend to be more single core/thread heavy than they are multithreaded. Strategy might use multiple cores, depends on the game, though the 5700X3D is almost certainly the better buy for a gamer.

The only way I could imagine the OP being able to upgrade both is getting a 6750 XT or 7700 XT (been some big discounts on this card lately) alongside a 5700X3D.

Thank you for all your responses and feedback.
Is there anything else that I could change or add to my current build? Like cooling, case, monitor.
I do find myself deleting and installing games often due to running out of space on my ssd.

If you install your games on the SSD, what is this for?

I'd get more SSD space personally, and lose that HDD.

Then you'll need a stronger GPU and a stronger CPU.

But if you have to get something now and you want to stay on 1080p - get a 5700X3D and a Radeon 6800, and eventually the 6700XT, 6750XT, or 7700XT.

Personal perspective but no, not in this case. Monitor upgrades over GPU's are for those people who are high end thinking of upgrading to the 1%. I played on a 5600XT for ages which is close to a 6600XT and I can't imagine a world where I'd pick a new monitor over a low/mid range GPU. From CP77 at High/Custom 90fps~ to ultra, low ray traced 144fps+ on my 6800. Even on my shitty 1080p TN panel the difference in how pretty it looks is huge.

Now this video would apply to me now, whether I upgrade the GPU again or a 21st century monitor next.

I'm open to the idea of a monitor, could I do by with dual monitor with a rx 6600, as in keep my old one still? I can also understand if I should wait for a bit longer for something new.

You can, but you would only game on one, and the other won't take much resources.  Configure a system mainly for what the main monitor will be.

Frankly, I would get a better GPU first.  You'll either push over the capabilities of the current monitor and want a new one, or your GPU will be able to rock max settings while being in spec of the monitor.

Ie.  If you get a 6750XT, you can run 1080p Ultra and enjoy.  If you get a 7800XT, you'll be Ultra but also realize you can be High/Ultra at 1440p as well.  Then you can decide on a monitor.

I would think about watching some shows or movies on the second but I'd probably still want to use the better one sometimes for watching movies in higher quality.
But I guess I could do a monitor later.

It's a process 👍

Don't feel rushed or worry about money or resolution or fps.  There is no need to go 1440p or high refresh 1080p, the games don't change or give different endings 😂

Just enjoy what you have and upgrade when/if you can.

As long as you can use your machine to do things, all is good.
