CPU-11700kf

Motherboard-Gigabyte Aorus Z490 Elite (rev1.0)

GPU- Some 3070

RAM- 2 16gb sticks of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (3200mhz) and 1 16gb sticks of Kingston Fury(3466mhz)

PSU- EVGA BQ 850

The Story

The build was supposed to be a partial upgrade and replacement from an Alienware Aurora r12. The Aurora started out with a minor graphics failure that fixed itself, but eventually started having power issues. We didn't diagnose the issue, but it wouldn't stay powered on unless the power button was held while still not showing anything on a display.

The New Issue

I moved the CPU, GPU, drives, and RAM into a new case with the motherboard listed above. I understand that the motherboard needs a BIOS update before I can use the CPU on it. Also having checked the motherboards qualified RAM through the support page to see if that was the issue, and not seeing either of the above sticks of RAM part numbers being listed. Upon turning it on the first time, everything lit up properly, just didn't make it into the BIOS because the light for the RAM check never passed. I tried multiple combinations and positions of the sticks of RAM listed above, as well as a known good single stick of Corsair Vengeance LPX 8gb (3000mhz). I don't believe the CPU is the issue because the light flashes on and off like it passes the check before it sticks on for the RAM.

Well, you know what to do first it seems.

In case you are wondering how, your motherboard has the Q-Flash feature that allows updating the BIOS with only the motherboard and PSU installed. No CPU, no RAM, no storage needed. Follow the instructions in the manual (or the website) for details.

That is normal behavior if you need a BIOS update first.

Good luck !

Would you happen to know if it should boot even with partial or even all of the parts installed? I had tried once just out of desperation to turn the system on with everything in except for RAM since that seemed to be the issue. It still got stuck with the RAM check light on.

For a computer to be able to boot into the BIOS, you need a CPU, DRAM, motherboard and a PSU.

To boot into Windows you also need storage with Windows installed.

I definitely didn't finish my question, sorry. To boot into where I need to flash the bios, would it be able to do so with basically everything besides the RAM? That's where I was at and still getting the issue of not passing the RAM light check.
