Budget (including currency): $2000 AUD

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming (specifically FPS and action RPG games)

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hey all! I'm planning to build my first PC and from personal research along with advice from friends I have conjured up the following: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/hgkxdH . I don't really care about aesthetics and instead would much rather prefer it to run games smoothly at 1080p on high settings. Please let me know if there's anything that could potentially go wrong or any improvements I can make to the build. Thanks in advance!

Swap to faster memory but other than it's solid. GPU a bit overkill for 1080p but if you plan to play the new 2024 AAA unoptimised games then I wouldn't blame you for going way over to have safe GPU performance. Cooler is also big for such a cool CPU but you living in Australia maybe the delta temperature being higher is also a good consideration.

Is that not slower? 6400CL32 vs 5600CL30. I noticed AUS 6000CL30 is real expensive but 6400CL32 can be tuned down in DOCP and have a better die for it vs 5600CL30?

Ryzen is far more sensitive to latency that speed and speed anyway sort of soft caps at 6000MHz anyways. In my mind I'm seeing this as 5600MHz CL30 vs 6000MHz CL32. For $1 the timing is more worth it. Single digit fps more.

For Intel the 6400MHz would be a no brainer.

Fair enough, i was more looking at it in terms of 2 speed steps quicker but only 1 latency step slower.

On that note, why not 5600CL28?

Edit: Oh because its a LOT more expensive

But RyZen can hit higher mts amd be stable, won’t it be the same ns first response? (In the 6400@cl32)
