While trying to clean my desk of all the extra stuff I came across this short cable and don't know where it came from or what it's for.  Just out of curiosity anyone have an idea of what it's for?  The large end is for Display Port but it's the small end that draws questions.  THANKS.

I have used those with a lot of Surface devices and accessories. The Surface 3 had one Mini Display Port built into it. The Surface Dock has two of those ports.

 

Since USB-C can send either a Display Port signal or an HDMI signal I suppose that Mini Display Ports on new devices are slowly fading away from existance, but I could be wrong.
