PlanetSide 2 any good?

Go to solution Solved by BenestoTech,

Ok, that aside, is the story, gameplay, etc. worthwhile?

Ok, so there is an ok story behind the factions, but nothing too game-changing. Gameplay is quite action-packed, with large fights often. Indar is one of the three continents. Indar is a desert continent with a decent range of facilities, and there is lots of rocky terrain. It makes for a fun fight. Esamir is the second, this is a snow/tundra continent. It is fairly flat in terms of large formations, but with lots of hills it makes for fun car chases. And Amerish the third. This is a grassy continent, with lots of mountains and cliffs, and is really fun for plane dogfights. There is apparently another continent on the way called Hossin, which is a swamp continent. THere are a wide range of vehicles, with the Flash, an ATV/Quadbike, The Harrasser, a three seater car with a turret, the Sunderer, a 12 seater transport/spawnpoint vehicle, the Lightning, a tank, and then there is another tank that is faction specific. The Prowler is for TR, the Vanguard for NC, which is similar to the TR one, and the Magrider for the Vanu, which is a levitating tank, much like the Wraith in Halo. Each faction is a bit different. TR has rapid fire, medium damage weapons. NC has slow firing, Heavy damage weapons. and the Vanu is a mix in between. There are also air vehicles. THe Liberator, a 3 seater gunship, the galaxy a 12 seater transporter, and each faction has a specific fighter. TR has the mosquito, a very light and nippy fighter, with low damage rate. The NC has a high damage, slow firing fighter that is very heavy to handle. and the Vanu, again has a mix inbetween. The gameplay experience is fun, with great graphics, however it is very CPU intensive, but if you have a decent PC you should be fine.

There are also many classes to play as. There is the infiltrator, a sniping class with a cloak, the engineer, who can place turrets, landmines and fix vehicles/generators. There is the Light Assault, with mid-range stock weapons and a jetpack. The Heavy assault is like light but with a rocket launcher, but no jetpack. There is combat medic, who is, well :P a medic. and there is Max, a mech suit that is very hungry on resources. Aerospace, Mechanised and infantry resources can be earned ingame easily, and the more fighting you do the more you get. There are also ranks, and XP. Weapons and vehicles can be bought/upgraded with in game Certs, which dont cost money, but you can buy stationcash and buy camos, glam for things. Not worth it, massive ripoff

Ive found that the people on NC are the people who want OP weapons and just like winning. The people on vanu are generaly noobs, and the TR is a fair faction who actually know how to play. (no offense) I think its a pretty good game, i find it fun, and even though it is a bit buggy, its free, so what have you got to lose?

Hope this helps!

Hi,

does anyone here play it? It looks alright, is it worth getting into.

Also is free to play an option or do you really need to pay to actually play properly?

It's kinda cpu hungry. I'd recommend you play something like tf2.

Oh another question!

What do you guys mean by CPU intensive. What do you need to run it properly? Should not be too bad?

CPU intensive means the game requires a lot of power from the processor. For low graphics, you probably want an i3, 6gb of ram and a GTX 560 or so, if you are on a desktop. For mid, probs an FX-8350 or an i5, 8gb RAM and a GTX 660. And for all out performance, something like an i7-4770, 16GB RAM and a GTX 770/780 will be good

K. Thanks. I know what the terminology means, I was just asking about what you meant by "intensive" Usually open world games are CPU intensive and MMOs too. But I found some benchmarks and yeah they basically said what you just said...
