Any opinions about DELL S SERIES SE3223Q 31.5'' 4K UHD monitor?

4K 60Hz VA office monitor, more or less. Not many redeeming qualities other than being 4K and 32".

I need PBP/PIP support, which not many monitors have, but I think I prefer IPS and higher refresh rate.

If you need for higher refresh rate, always check for gaming monitor. Office monitor often up to 60hz only.

 

and yes gets IPS instead of VA.

But who else has PBP/PIP support? I don't want a Samsung monitor and as far as I know LG does not have such support.

Some LG model have PIP/PBP and yes also Samsung monitor that you not interesting.  
 

Please take noted, most monitor when enable PBP/PIP will not have function of HDR, G-Sync or free sync or adaptive sync, cannot set this and that, it will perform very basic function, some even drop refresh rate to half of suppose refresh rate.

I am asking about PBP/PIP support from different sources with audio and not about screen split. Which LG models are you talking about that support this, as I searched and could not find any?

I know what is PBP/PIP, I just let you know when use PBP/PIP you not getting what the monitor suppose feature, you can check review for model with this function, it will take off some of the monitor functions.

 

When you Google for LG PIP mode monitor, you will be getting some. Here are some model support it.

• LG 49GR85DC
• LG 38WN95C

From monitor I own, following do have PBP/PIP and most Samsung do have but you dislike Samsung, so it is even less choice. If you want with audio some more from the monitor itself, then even less as many monitors did not came with speaker.

Thank you for your advice, but I am looking for a 32" flat monitor. I now use a Samsung 28" 4K UHD monitor that supports PBP/PIP, but it has several problems from the day I bought it and some are still unsolved. Anything bigger, would be too big and I see no reason to choose curved, as I am not interested much in gaming.

It is very hard to get 32" in PIP or PBP, you probably need to google more. Yup I agreed curve is unnecessary for screen size below 32" in 16:9 aspect ratio.

Everything appears too small with a 28" monitor at the recommended 3840x2160. Would everything appear too big with a 32" monitor at 1920x1080?

For best resolution in 100% scaling.

• 24" - 1920x1080
• 27" - 2560x1440
• 42" - 3840x2160

For 32", it is a nice big screen but not nice for any resolution in market for 100% scaling, definitely not for 1080p, even 1440p also not look good enough but then 4K is way too small on it.

For 28", at 2560x1440 resolution and 100% scale, everything still looks small to me.

You're just not used to modern displays high res displays over 1080p, I guess. That size and res is perfect for native (100%) scaling for most people, I'd say.

If you need something bigger, you can enlarge the scale and still sharp, but if you buy lower resolution, it will look not sharp and pixelate.

 

1440p is perfect resolution for use in 100% scaling for 27" (2560x1440), 34" (3440x1440) and 49" (5120x1440) for most people. Try it for some times and you may like it.

This 28" monitor does not retain a resolution other than the recommended after restart. but I will try it anyway.

I believe something wrong with your windows as windows will remembered your scaling set.

I suspect that the problem might be the monitor, because when I enable PIP, resolution is automatically reset to the recommended. But what could be wrong with windows?

Normally when you have new connection, it will set to recommended.

 

But once you change the settings, windows will remembering your settings and won’t reset to recommended settings.

Not in this case. I am trying a DVI to HDMI cable to see if it behaves differently, but the highest resolution I get is 1920x1080. Any ideas why?

You can't do 4K60 over DVI. What exact cable are you using? Single or Dual Link?

Corrected, I think it's DVI-D (Dual Link). What about 2560x1440?

1440p60 over Dual Link DVI should be possible but I can't verify the port on the GPU, the DVI end of the cable or the fact that its an adapter. Many things stacked against you, YMMV.

I might try a different HDMI cable in case it retains 2560x1440 resolution and 100% scale.

You used converter and it is possible limited by DVI.

 

My normal case is not using any converter, using converter normally many issue.
