Hey guys - just upgraded my CPU/MOBO and ran into the CPU red light on mobo:

MOBO: MSI B760 GAMING WIFI

CPU: I7-14700K

GPU: 3070 MSI Ventus Trio

RAM: 32GB DDR5 Crucial

PSU: EVGA 750W

I tried everything (I think?), switching RAM slots, using only 1 stick on different slots, swapping PSU cables (made sure they were properly in), removing GPU, flashing CMOS with pins to short

It's hard for me to believe that 750W is not enough to boot.. but maybe?

CPU socket pins look fine, and CPU itself looks fine too..

I am clueless - CPU was maybe dead on arrival and looking for one last stretch if anyone can think of something I take it! (I have asked for a refund and went through but if I can make it work beforehand huhu)

Happy to provide more info if needed!

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

CPU: A red light near this indicator means the motherboard does not recognize the CPU, which could mean many things. The CPU might not be plugged in correctly, or one of the pins is bent. It could also be the CPU fan is not plugged in. Finally, a dead CMOS battery can also cause the red light to trigger.  LifeWire
