Hello guys,

I have a very specific issue at hand, I have an old laptop specifically (hp elitebook g2 x360) I recently tried to re paste the cpu, (I have re-pasted many laptops). I ripped off a thin black tape off of the vent. It was directed on top of the laptop fan.

I completely re assembled the laptop, I was confident so I did not check the laptop when it was open.

After I turned on the laptop the cpu fan ramped upto 100% and its stuck there.

I have cleaned and re-pasted, reinstalled all the drivers, completely install a new os (windows). But still the fan is not letting off.

If anyone can help please do I have been struggling with this, the fans has a very high pitch whine.
