Budget (including currency): 350 euros ~ could go above that aswell

Country: Greece

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: cs2 , dota2 , streaming and programming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hello guys , so this is my current setup:
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600

MOBO: MSI PC MATE (B350)

RAM: 32GB GSkill Ripjaws 5

GPU: 6700xt Sapphire

PSU: Corsair 750W RMe

Have a lot of fps and stuttering issues in cs2 and generally my pc feels sluggish , and I thinking to upgrade my cpu / mobo combo

Now , after some debugging and trying to understand what is happening especially with cs2 , I have fairly low cpu and gpu / ram usage and it didnt made sense as to why I get low fps like I do and insane fps drops - 1fps - 15 fps and such.

Saw that the 6700xt is using pcie 4.0 instead of 3.0 and maybe that is limiting.

Now I dont do anything insane with my pc , just games cs2 , dota 2 , doom , etc.. , sometimes streaming and programming but thats about it to be honest.

I was thinking to upgrade to a 5800x and a mobo with a x570 chipset due to PCIE 4.0 , and was wondering if I can get away with b550 , cause a lot more range and cheaper boards.

With that being said , if the better choice is to go a x570 then thats fine but was wondering if I can save those 75-100 euros on a b550 and still use PCIE 4.0 on gpu

(Side note I use 2 m.2 drives) , 1 is used on a pcie to m.2 slot and the other is on the board itself.

thank you so much for your time to read this and any replies!

Keep the same motherboard, update to latest BIOS and get a 5800X3D.

My X470 tops out at PCIE 3.0 with RX6800. Statistically I don't have too much FPS loss compared to 4.0 from my research, within margin of error. Check if then you are able to turn on SAM. Yoo'll be fine even if you'll get PCIE 3.0. 200+eur for motherboard to get 0-2fps more isn't worth it.

VRM cooling seems.. fine, just make sure in general there's enough airflow over the fins.

Sometimes even a "better" board performs worse. R6S worst case scenario here:

B550 and 5800x3d.  Don't need x570.   PCIe 4.0 is hype.  It's faster on paper though.

May even get by with dropping the 580x3d on your current motherboard, but not sure.  @venomtail seems confident, so I defer to him.

Wow @venomtail and @Dedayog for the fast replies , my AMD software says that SAM isnt available , as for bios , I do have the latest one (non beta), I think the b350 is too old but not sure

Not sure, but the 1600 can handle SAM but may not help much on older parts.

Honestly, I'd just grab the 5800x3d as it's the best CPU for AM4 (or anyone's previous gen), and a nice B550 with features you want.  Sell the 1600 on the B350 as a combo.

Cause your CPU is too old to support SAM straight off. It's Ryzen 5000 or newer, Radeon 6000 or newer, Windows boot dependent - UEFI windows as well as having a motherboard that has been updated with BIOS to support SAM. My X470 is below default 500 series or newer yet ASUS themselves have enabled it.

If you don't luck out and SAM isn't available oh well, not a day/night difference. I got far better performance results merely switching my windows power settings (I had like a 15% gain) than after enabling SAM.
