Need help with keycap compatibility

Borgus Bohr

Noob here...

I bought a mechanical keyboard with khale red switches a few years ago. I want to buy ''low profile keycaps'' (TEA or MBK), will it be compatible with the current switches? What should I look for, and which brand of website would you recommend to buy those keycaps. 🙂

"Kailh red switches" is not enough information.

Are they regular sized switches with the MX stem (shaped like a cross).

Are they low-profile switches with the MX stem?

Are they low profile switches with the 2 slots?

It will depend on the low-profile switches, like which type of switch they were made for: look for cherry MX compatible.

However, keep in mind that low-profile keycaps are intended to be used with low-profile switches as well, so they more than likely will never really fit and stick out awkwardly. Haven't tried that myself yet, though.

I think you're right. "Low profile" keys probably won't fit and will not feel solid on those switches. I will look more towards swapping switches and then go from there. Thanks for the info
