Hello, I am a current BCOMM university student who will be graduating this year, and my computer is in dire need of an upgrade as even simple games like "Conrad Stevenson's Paranormal P.I." can barely run on low settings.

Budget (including currency): CAD $2,000

Country: Canada, Alberta

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Baldurs Gate 3, Adobe Cloud Creator (such as Photoshop). I'd like to be able to play games in high spec rather than mid to low.

Other details: current build that I started in 2014, Zalman z11 plus case, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming LGA motherboard, intel i5-4440 processor, asus GeForce 970, Corsair cx600m psu. Intel E97378-001 Lga1155/1156 Aluminum/Copper Cpu Heatsink, and corsair vengeance LP 32GB RAM, Corsair SATA 3 Force LS 120 GB SSD, Seagate desktop HDD 2TB. I did upgrade the cooler, graphics card, and PSU last year.

existing parts that I want to keep are the Zalman z11 plus case, Noctua NH-U14S (it can just fit in the case), GeForce RTX™ 3060 EAGLE OC 12G (rev. 2.0), Asus rog strix 850w gold PSU, Asus MG248QR 144hz monitor, Corsair SATA 3 Force LS 120 GB SSD, Seagate desktop HDD 2TB. I have razor brand keyboard, mouse, and headphones.

The processor that I'd like to get is the i9-13900k, but I need a new motherboard, RAM, and I'd like to get a 1 or 2TB SSD for the motherboard. ( I do not want liquid cooling as I am not comfortable with my chances of success installing my first one, the first time) I would also like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and if possible, I would like to consider RGB.

your help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a really good case and cooler to cool 13900K, there's no way that case and NH-U14S could handle 13900K which is basically a tiny space heater. No air cooler could tame 13900K anyway.

3060 Ti won't play games in high settings high fps, maybe in 1080p but only for current games and not high fps. You need a beefier GPU for that.

on 2K CAD you can easily get the 13900, board, RAM, and an SSD for a replacement build.

Do you /really/ need the 13900k tho?

For starters:  The NHU14 *cannot* cool a 13900, at all.  Like, not even a little bit.

And for gaming:  a 13600k is just as fast as a 13900k

And yeah, agreed with almost everyone, downgrade to 13700 at least.

The i9 is not a good choice for a gaming cpu imo. Look at the i7 13700F or if you want integrated graphics then the i7 13700.

Just to speak a little contrary to the sentiment here, it’s not that the 13900K is bad for gaming (being the second best definitely isn’t bad), it’s just not a good value if you’re not going to get other use out of it. You’d gain more by saving money on a better cost to performance CPU, selling the 3060 and picking up a 7800 XT (assuming they can be found around the announced price at launch).

If you don’t ever plan to go higher than 1080p, you can get away with keeping the 3060, but the 13900k is still way overkill for that. You could pivot to a 7800X3D (still overkill) and save on money and cooling. You’re in a weird spot if all you want to drive is 1080p/144hz.

I say let the old stuff go, especially the case. Sometimes it's more costly to try and save money. A nice looking RGB system that for a student should be plenty fast:
