First high-end build

ouchie

This is not my first PC that I will build, but it is the first high-end.

The CPU, cooler, GPU and case are pretty much locked in, unless you can change my mind.

Should I go with the Corsair PSU or SeaSonic FOCUS PLUS 850?

While the case can change I do not want a glass sidepanel. meshify 2 seems to be the only one that sells good airflow case with a solid sidepanel?

Budget (including currency): 2000-2500 (Euro)

Country: NL

assuming you already have storage from a previous build.

I'd get atleast ddr5 6000mhz cl30 or so, it will fit within your budget and shouldnt be that much more since ram prices dropped quite a bit.

Recent build: Fractal Design - Torrent reviewMeshify C / The 1080TI Strix Noctua modDefine S X58 Xeon build  / Specs: i7-14700KF 5.8Ghz - ASUS TUF RTX 4080 super - G.Skill Ripjaws 32GB 4000mhz CL18 -  Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X d4 - Torrent Fractal Design white - EVGA 850W Supernova G2 80+ Gold - Noctua D15

Does it really make a big/noticeable difference? And which one do you recommand?

realistically i dont think you will notice because of the high end cpu/gpu you picked but imo if you're going all out like this you might as well spend the extra 20euros on something that will also stay relevant in the long run.

not sure what you will be using this pc for but there are definitely games out there where you will see 5-10fps improvements on.

Is this only for games? The x3d chips are not the best if you have non gaming heavy tasks.

Also at this price point, I would get a 4090 if this is a gaming only PC. or at least a 4080.

Yes mainly gaming with a little programming on the side.

I'm not the biggest fan of Nvidia (and their software). Maybe I got used to AMD.

Pick your poison moment really, if your title scales the cache then the 12700K like performance of the 7800X3D on productivity is fine and youd enjoy the extra gaming performance especially on frame times.

If you're doing programing, there are uses the RTX card has for you that you cant miss on.

What do you mean by "their software"? what do you even need the software for? Most of us don't ever have to use the Nvidia control panel except maybe once a few months.

That and not being a fan seems like bad reasons to not get a 4090 at 2500 Euros, or at least a 4080. You're roubbing yourself of both gaming and programing advantages. But you do what you feel you'll be happy with.

But if you wanted my input, the list provided by @Why_Me is the best one I see here and one I would recommend too, if you're serious about your programing uses/learning. It's an upgrade for your games too. I would probably bump up the 13700K to a 13900K with a 360mm Arctic LFII AIO( or a Noctua U12 or D15 air cooler with correct power limits) but otherwise it's solid, that's what you should be buying for your usecase. cheers.

Recording software (AMD relive)

If you're doing programing

It is only webdev and NodeJS. It makes no difference which cpu/gpu I use
