My computer sleeps and wakes fine for about a week at a time.

Then all of a sudden, the screen won't come on and the razer mouse light lights.... and that's it.

If I run the the whole suite of tweaking.com utilities, it starts working again.

It is working now, but I am wondering what information can be gathered, the first time it fails, to find the culprit.

Thanks,

This is the worst case scenario, but might be the motherboard slowly dying. Is the pc randomly getting super slow drives not detected? If so, it's likely the motherboard dying.

If USB devices disconnect during sleep or won't be detected during boot if so, it's likely the motherboard dying.

Or USB connector is loose or faulty.

Do all fans spin? another symptom of malfunctioning motherboard is dead fan headers.

Check with another monitor cable, cable mgiht be faulty. I had an issue where this seemed to be the case, it worked well after changing it, but then the motherboard caused issues with all issues mentioned in this comment. But I also had a SSD that died. But I experienced issues still, so motherboard was definitely an problem.

The monitor staying black might be the graphics card is not detecting the monitor, which can be caused by a dying graphics card, or motherboard or both. The card might be loose not secured properly, but unlikely. If motherboard is dying it might not detect the card or mgiht not fully function and not detect the monitor. So this issue can be diagnosed by switching monitor, then graphics card, and motherboard, if that one does not do it it's the card, if it still does it, it's likely the motherboard, then switch that, if still does it. If you don't have any spares, but have a different pc, you can swap the card over. But I doubt it's the graphics card, but happens, but as you have issues with USB devices, it's more likely it's the motherboard.

Are the USB devices working? is it just the light that shuts off on the mouse? Razer mouse does not store the mouse settings, the Raze software does, it mgiht be an issue with the software. Are you using the latest version? tweaking.com is nice. I don't know why it solves the issue temporarily, or if it actually does or if that's an coincidence.
