PSU and GPU would be the next upgrade after this. Make sure to contact Noctua for a free LGA-1700 mounting kit for your cooler.

First option would be to upgrade the cpu, motherboard, ram, and psu.

Motherboard: MSI MPG B760I EDGE WIFI DDR4 Mini ITX LGA1700 Motherboard  ($199.99 @ B&H)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory  ($85.99 @ Newegg)

Video Card: Zotac MINI GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB Video Card  (Purchased For $0.00)

Power Supply: Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($99.99 @ Best Buy)
$678.91

This would give you a great benefit, especially for the newer games.

However, you can also just upgrade the gpu and psu for now, and upgrade the rest of the build later. You obviously won't experience the same boost in performance, as if you upgraded everything, but it'll do the trick for now. With the new psu, the next upgrade will be easier too. However, you're probably limited to a RTX 3060 because of the case's limitations. If you don't want that limitation, I would recommend a new case with the upgrade.

Video Card: Asus DUAL GeForce RTX 4070 12 GB Video Card  ($597.01 @ Amazon)
Case: Fractal Design Meshify 2 Nano Mini ITX Tower Case  ($63.98 @ Newegg)

Yeah but AC and Rust is pretty CPU bound even on high res. I still pretty much agreed with both your assessment though, saving up for the CPU later on with GPU now would be a guaranteed across the board boost for games, especially for that troublesome wizard game.

Cost compression for your CPU upgrade plan, to get more open option on the GPU after a case upgrade.
