325a Vs. Avenger

So i have the avenger right now, and im thinking about trading it for a 325a. Looking at the specs for both ships they seem pretty even, so i was wondering what your personal opinions on both ships are to help me decide, Thanks

It depends on what you're going to be doing in the game.

Well the Avenger is more of a Zoom and Boom Fighter (Great Speed but turns are meh). The avenger is more Akin to the A-10 Warthog.

The 325 A might better for you is you are planning on dog-fighting and possibly bounty hunting.

The avenger is supposed to be the crown Victoria of the space age and I heard something about it having a holding cell or an easy upgrade for it. As for dogfighting it will be pretty even with the 325a but just a different play-style. I would wait until the ships come out on the AC until you melt your current ship.

u can modify the ship to have a cell if u want to, though u will need to take in consideration the powerplant it has

325: Empty mass per manuvering thruster: 1.792, Empty mass per main: 21.5, Full Mass per: 29.5

Avenger: Empty mass per Manuvering thruster: 2.75, empty mass per main: 22, Full Mass per: 32

 

the 325 has a cargo of 8 tons to the avengers 10

 

(Note 1: the cargo is being changed from tonnage to capacity at some point, either way the avenger will likely have more cargo space still)

(Note 2: the avenger uses a tier 5 main engine to the 325's tier 4 although both come with a tier 3 base)

Avenger is accurate at long range, has the highest speed of a single seat fighter in a straight line,and the biggest cargo hold.

 

The 325a has medium-range optimized weaponry and better agility, so is more suited for dogfighting though not as much as the short-range hornet.

 

Avenger for alpha strike/ long range harassment/ boom n' zoom. And making money on that extra cargo space.

325a for being average at all things, at average ranges, and thus having a chance against all fighters.

Hornet for pure bred dogfighting.

Avenger is seemingly more versatile than the 325A as it actually has a bed inside of it. If you're not really sure what you're gonna be doing but absolutely want one of these two ships I would definitely favor the Avenger.

 

But if you think you're gonna be fighting a bit more than exploring or doing a specific task, absolutely go 325A. As stated by That Norwegian Guy, 325A is a fighter class. If you're not sure what you want to do but love the 325A looks, then go 300i and just upgrade it later.

The avenger has been touted as more of a bounty hunter type of ship as it is an ex police cruiser. I would wait a while to see what happens when they are both out in the DFM.

 

You can always buy either ship package and melt it down later (you get credits back for this which you could use to buy another ship).

These discussions confuse me every time

I thought the 325a (being an 'Interdictor) was the long range hitter, designed for the long haul and attack behind enemy lines. But I suppose no one will know for sure until we can get our hands on actual gameplay and until the stats are finalized. Based on the current stats the Avenger indeed seems like the better choice. But Ben Lesnick did make a statement a few days ago that there is more to the stats than what is being published at this point in time. Once the game comes out, we're going to have a much better idea of how the ships actually perform.
