home security diy?

What are you guys using for home security? I was using smart things but switched to hubitat but still have issues with sensors dying without any warning or the battery life showing 50% left when it's actually dead. I use cameras to they work great it's just the door sensors and such that die without warning.

I started out on Iris, moved to Smart Things, and have recently been messing with Home Assistant.  I've been through a couple generations of sensors. I'll say battery life "gauges" through any of the systems I've used has not been great. At best I'll get a warning, then it will immediately drop off. Honestly I think trying to use the battery life gauge is just a lost cause. I've moved to just replacing my batteries once a year. I've found just replacing the batteries proactively ensures everything functions through out the year without any issues.
