Hello everyone! I am building my first computer for gaming but am really lost and I need some assistance. My budget is a strict $800 (US) for the computer and peripherals ie. monitor (1 monitor @ 1920x1080), mouse, and keyboard. This will be used purely for gaming/entertainment purposes. I honestly have no preferences on parts as long as they are reputable and work as supposed to. I mostly play single player games like Bioshock, Thief, Fallout, Dishonored, Far Cry 3, Skyrim etc. and since my current build cannot play games very well I thought it was time for an upgrade. My goal is to be able to play my games with good visuals and decent FPS. At this budget I don't plan on OC so don't worry about that. Any help/ideas/tips on builds will be very helpful. Oh also I do not need an OS or optical drive because I can use those from my current build. Thanks for the help in advance. - Yuki

This is really rough, but i'm assuming you don't need a case.

And if you're using your existing storage that's a saving of $50.

But basics here's a price.

CPU i5 6600K | Mobo Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 | Cooling H80i | MSI GTX970 Gaming 4GB in SLi | Geil Super Luce 16GB 3000MHz DDR4 | Intel 330 120GB | 2 x 1TB WD Black | Corsair Air 540 | XFX ProSeries 1250W. | Corsair K70 Anodised Black Cherry Reds | Logitech G502 | Dell U2713HM | Red LED Lighting.

I can go up to $1000 if I sell my Xbox which I could do. However I am currently trying to get a job and if I can then I will wait and save up. However I thought you guys had more imagination. :P

Here is the build I came up with for $800 :\ http://pcpartpicker.com/user/yukiuro/saved/4zJM

What do you think is a recommended budget for a decent gaming rig? I can stretch it to $1000 if I sold my Xbox, which I am thinking about doing.

Hi Yuki,

This is what I came up with for you. If you plan to sell your Xbox like you suggested in your other post, you would have enough money for this rig. If you plan to purchase this system, be careful with overclocking it. The PSU is only 600W and the system is pushing 559W.

AMD APUs are great for gaming on a budget. The 7850k is the latest, most capable APU on the market.

I understand that APU's are good for the budget but you cannot Crossifre with the R9 270x so the onboard graphics added by the APU would be overridden.

Okay, After reading your response I changed up the CPU & motherboard, which added $20 to the original list cost. Take a look.
