So I’ve been looking into getting a pc as of lately and I can’t really figure out what I want to get. I was looking at the RTX3070 and the 6800xt, I’m not for sure which one to get and which one is better. I would like to play games at high settings and maybe stream here and there what are your thoughts ?

Budget (including currency): $2000 usd

Country: America

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Any upcoming games probably a lot of shooters like valorant and the new games like elden ring or hogwarts legacy

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/K3gGC6

I would like to have an enjoyable experience to play my games at the highest settings and not have to worry about running the game or not and to have my FPS above 100 if possible on intensive games and at 1920x1080 oh and what are your thoughts on the fans I have on my pc part picker and how many should I even have ? I wish to have a main monitor and a second one for discord and other stuff I’m good on peripherals pretty much just need a pc and some monitors.

The 6800XT is a faster card and more future proof because of the amount of video memory (16GB) And can also stream quite well. (AMF encoder)

The 3070 is a tad faster in RTX games, tough less future proof because of the amount of video memory (8GB). It is a bit better at streaming because of the video encoder (NVENC).

What resolution are you planning on playing at?

My Rig: CPU : 10700K | RAM : Trident Z Neo 3600Mhz c16 32G (4x8) | CPU cooler : NHD15 | GPU : ASUS ProArt 4070 | PSU : Corsair RM850 (black label) | CASE : Corsair 5000D Airflow | Storage : Samsung 970 evo 1TB, WD Black 1TB, Samsung evo 850 Sata SSD | Casefans : Lian Li Unifan SL120 7X|

Both of your post doesnt contain enough info if at all. You should read the template that this subforum gives you and answer it to the best of your ability. Remember, our answer is in proportion to your effort in posting. I highly recommend to watch Linus' guide on building a PC to start.

This basically will not work and build overall is total waste of money, very bad.

Here is list for only few bucks more, but it is significantly better.

First and foremost, it will actually work.

13600K gets you same gaming performance as 13700K, but your bottleneck will always be GPU. Instead of crappy 1080p monitors I added very good 1080p and 1440p monitors, they are very good quality and 1440p is appropriate for this system, 1080p is too low resolution and waste of money for almost 200$. they also visually match and will look nice side to side. I also added better RAM, SSD, Better GPU, good case with RGB fans and good PSU.

The components work together as a system. Mismatched components can adversely impact performance. I can recommend a slightly modified version of my rig, but it pushes the limits of your budget (can delete HDD, reduce RAM to 16GB to meet a hard budget), and you don't mention if you already have a monitor, keyboard, etc.

Corsair 4000X RGB case - $130

Asus Tuf B550-PLUS - $186 (PRO for a bit more if you want USB 3.1/3.2 front panel with this case)

Ryzen 5800X3D - $309

Scythe Mugen 4 - $46

Patriot Viper 432G320C6K (prefixes will vary, PV, PVS, PVB,PVR) Steel is cheapest, prices vary

WD Blue SN570 1TB PCIe3 M.2 - $53

WD Black Performance 2TB HDD 256MB Cache (2TB) - $50

Zotac Amp Extreme Holo 3070ti 8GB GPU - $1022

Corsair CX750M PSU - $90

Corsair 3-pack SP120 fans - $83

Total - $1990-$2088

Use a locked CPU and an ATX motherboard. (mATX motherboards look odd in ATX cases.)

More memory is not that much more expensive.

A 750W PSU satisfies GPU recommendations. White models come with white cables which look good in a white case.

The case comes with enough fans to provide good airflow. There should be no need to add more.

The monitors in your parts list are $300 together. Allowing for this, my modified list.

Corsair 4000X RGB case - $130

Asus Tuf B550-PLUS - $186 (if desired, PRO has a 3.1 header for this case)

Ryzen 5700X - $179

Scythe Mugen 4 - $46

Patriot Viper 4 (416G320C6K) - $92

WD Blue SN570 1TB PCIe3 M.2 - $53

Asus Tuf 3070ti 8GB OC GPU - $823

Corsair CX750M PSU - $90

Corsair 3-pack SP120 fans - $83

Acer SB220Q bi - $90

Asus VG249Q1A  - $193

Total - $1965

I would recommend 32GB of this RAM though, and a HDD. WD Black 1 TB 64MB cache can be had for $40. 2TB isn't that much more either.

Why the 13700f? Isn’t the 13700k better

Honestly for someone just started building a build list, its really good. Ive seen beginners wasting their cash on worse things.

I have seen much worse as well, but truth have to be said so mistake won't be made.

Also motherboard in your list doesn't have BIOS flashback and it'll likely come with not supported BIOS for 13700F.

Couldn't I just get a different mother board then ?

Don’t you think the second monitor might me a little over kill for just discord and YouTube and whatever ?

If you have a severe difficulty in focusing? Maybe. If youre everyone else? Nope.

Ive had a secondary monitor straight when i decided to buy a full blown 1080p monitor coming off a cheap 900p monitor i found in a rubbish. I used the old one for spotify and youtube and its amazing being able to just quickly alt tab and going to the 2nd screen for things i wanna do. And its also useful for the moment you do need 2nd screen like to use an in game map thats converted to a web-based page.

Depends on a lot of factor. Im banking on the possibility that you get a newer shipped units that does get the BIOS updates out of the box, because if you do, thats amazing. If not, at worst you can RMA it back for an updated BIOS or for a milder action you can go take it to a computer store that can accept BIOS updates (thanks to AMD shipping 3 generational intercompatibility for incentivizing that)

I appreciate all the input y’all are putting in sorry if I don’t know much I’m learning about computers and I just want one that I will really be satisfied with

Everyone has to learn and start somewhere. The 5700X / 3070ti setup I spec'd should do quite well with Elden Ring at 1080p.
