OHI!

I'm currently in the market for a SSD. I'm looking for a 240G+ drive for 200USD or lower. I have been shopping around and reading as much as I can. Just want to know what my best options are in real world scenarios. Any constructive feedback will be much obliged.

Also, upgrading from a 500gb momentus xt Hybrid drive. How much of an upgrade will a new SSD be?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

Great to see that yet another one going to the SSD side! I think it's a great worth of value, personally I use the OCZ Vertex 4 and the Samsung 840 Pro. Neither of them ever disappointed me.

Comparing read/write speed from something like the Crucial m4 to the Vertex 4 or the 840 Pro, the difference is in the write speed.

Dutch forum Tweakers.net says this about the Crucial m4 (128 GB) under the tile: Crucial m4: King Under the SSD's

"Looking at the price of the Crucial m4, not only is is the fastest SSD in it's class but also very beneficial. The Corsair Force 3 and the older drives like the OCZ Vertex 2 might be lower in price per gigabyte, but they offer less then 2/3 performance that the m4 can give you. Other good performing SSD's like the OCZ Vertex 3 and the Corsair Force GT are per gigabyte at least 20 procent more expensive. The makes the choice for tweakers' that are looking for a fast SSD with a capacity of 120 - 128 gigabyte very simple: the Crucial m4 is the fastest and at the same time one of the cheapest."

I think this SSD has great value!
