GPU usage drop and CPU usage increase affecting fps

The main problem is a GPU usage drop with a CPU usage increase and a fps loss, as of now the only game that i see it happen is elden ring which might as well be one of the worst games for it to happen
My specs:

GPU: Inno3D GeForce RTX 3060 Twin X2 LHR

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

RAM: 48GB set to 3000 MHz

Would be great if i could learn if the fps drops are caused by elden ring or if my PC is just not able to handle it.

An example of the overall performance in some areas (sadly recording with OBS stole some fps but hopefully the video is still somewhat valid)

Note: i have a lot of opera browser tabs open on my second monitor and usually have something playing on youtube so to not have it affect performance TOO much i run 48GB of ram

If there's something i need to add let me know

Elden Ring is poorly optimized, I love that game, but it runs like crap. Even my 12400 with 6800 XT has some noticeable FPS dips here and there.

Resolution? I'll assume 1080p.

CPU usage while gaming?

Also, 48GB, is it 3x16GB?

Occassionaly visits the forum when I have nothing to do at work.

Resolution is 1440p

CPU usage should be visible in the video but it jumps around 30-60 in areas with fps drops and 30-40 with mostly around 90 on GPU normally

and i have 2x8GB 2x16GB

Ah, 1440p, well your GPU is more of a decent 1080p card rather than an entry 1440p card.

The game runs very poorly even at high-end hardware, for example my 6800 XT 15 1440p can't get to 100fps (with fps unlock mod), even at medium settings, it simple won't fully utilize my GPU.

I'd say first turn down the settings, if not enough, resolution.

Aside from that, 2x8GB + 2X16GB isn't ideal, AFAIK this could cause slower performance, RAM affects the FPS dips quite heavily.

Make sure that those RAM run in XMP/DOCP mode, If I were you, I'll try to run the game with 2x16GB first, see if the dips improve.

Okay thanks, i will try to turn down some settings and see if anything changes, RAM is in XMP and 2x8GB with 2x16GB doesn't seem to be a big problem, pretty sure i actually got more fps in some games after getting 2x16GB.

Could you also reccomend me a decent GPU for 1440p cause the upgrade to card was purely to be able to utilize my 1440p monitors

I would start with recent reviews and see what cards get the fps at the resolution you're looking for. In your case, the 3070Ti or 6800 (non-XT) are the cards I'd envision for smooth 1440p gaming. Perhaps a 6700 XT or 6750 XT. If you want to go used, a 2080 Ti should also work.
