Hello, I currently own a pre-built but have been looking to buying parts to build my own pc, though I do have some questions.

I want to buy a RTX 3060 Ti, which I see available on bestbuy for 399. My question is if that's retail price? been holding out because I thought it was cheaper, but can't seem to find anything lower.

Any help on good motherboard, case, processor (amd preferred) ect would be great as well.

Do you all think it would be wise to purchase the gpu before everything else? I want to buy it first as it seems to be the what's going to cost the most in this build.

3060 ti FE card msrp is 399 but you can get a used 3060 ti on ebay for 300

for cpu/mobo combo, the smart deals are 12400f+b660 or 5600+b550

buy gpu last, those prices fall the fastest

Thanks for the reply.

I was just worried that the prices would go back up so thought it'd be a good idea to jump on one also, his build might take a while as I buy parts here and there but will look into buying the cpu/mobo first.

you should have everything you need by this black Friday/cyber Monday, so if you see a deal you like today, just make sure you can return within 30 days.

That's true. I've been tempted in buying another pre-built and just upgrading it. I currently have a pre-built, but it's an HP pavilion and the psu is proprietary... so annoying. The only thing I've upgraded was the ram but even then, it's locked at a lower frequency. I used Ryzen Master to bump it up as my ram is capable for a higher frequency, but my pc started resetting at random time so just reset and uninstalled.

prebuilts always cost more than they are worth in at least trouble upgrading if not also performance.

I'm actually in your position, about to rebuild my system and getting a 3060 ti.

Bought mine used for 300 with 30 day returns so no biggie.

picked up a b660 board for $115

don't buy a mobo without heatsinks on BOTH sets of vrms.

What's your budget? including gpu

Well, if a pre-built I'm looking at 1000-1300 (with a 3060) then upgrade to a 3060 Ti later or maybe a 3070.

But if I'm going to build a pc,I'm willing to spend msrp... It'll just take longer to get parts as I'm not too familiar with what is compatible with what, and I've never built a pc myself, so I'm also a bit hesitant. From what I do know, MOBOs are either AMD, or Intel, the case you buy also has to be compatible with MOBO, and PSU has to have enough juice to power everything haha

well there's a huge community here willing to help with your first build, and I think you could easily build a pc with a 3060 ti for less than $1k

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mbNRhk

+ $300 3060ti from ebay (for 19.99 you can buy a 1 year money back guarantee)

and that includes a high performance 2tb pcie 4.0 ssd

and prebuilt mobos always limit power limits

Gaming really. I've done some recording of gameplays awhile back which worked fine, but it's really just for gaming.

About what id reccommend

I couldn't see a reason to go with the 13600k here since you'll just be gaming, and the 5700x is still a very competent cpu for gaming, this allows for a 6800 which is a considerable improvement over a 3060ti

Thanks for the help. I'll definitely be looking into this list. I like that case. So far I've been looking at amazon, but will look into other websites. Some things I don't need thought like ram, storage, and gpu (for now). I can use my 1650 super untill I get the 3060Ti or an amd card. I also like that cooler, looks like it'll get rid of alot of heat.

If I decide to go intel I'd def go this rout. You think a 600W psu would be able to support the gpu and the rest of the hardware? I was looking at a 700W evga 80 bronze... but idk.

it's MORE than enough, and gold psu's will be quieter, cooler, and last longer

the intel platform has pcie 5.0 gpu slot for future, but the other guy's right if you want to spend 500 on a gpu it will OBVIOUSLY out do a 3060ti, but you'll be getting a lot fewer frames/dollar
