Budget (including currency): £700 - £1000

Country: United Kingdom

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: General gaming and streaming

Other details: Current build (1060, AMD Ryzen 5 2600x, Aorus B450 M, Kingston HyperX Fury 8x2 GB, Samsung 970 evo plus, aerocool integrator 600w) I'm also planning on keeping the same RAM and SSD

Note: This is my 1st time building and planning a pc build so i dont know much about what im doing lol, so dont judge if i made any dumb decisions

Here's my build so far:

Any recomendations for changes to be made, i want to keep the 3060 and Ryzen 5 5600x but im willing to make compromises and upgrades to the parts if there are better alternatives for cost that dont significantly reduce the speed of the pc, i do want to stick with nvidia for the gpu tho. Im not sure what to do in terms of psu, i do want something around the 700w - 800w region, gold or platinum without costing too much

Any advice for what i should do to / change in the build?

why, though? what’s the point? Like I get if there are nvidia-specific applications u use, but otherwise current-gen AMD (6600xt, 6700xt) is a better buy for just gaming.

Also, you should just keep your b450 mobo, update BIOS, and stick the 5600x into it. No reason to get a b550 mobo really.

i guess that would work but at the same time i want to get a mobo with pcie gen 4 and then there is the issue with compatability of the other parts im planning on buying.

What would be another option for the mobo where i can still meet al these requirements.

PCIe gen 4 is useless rn, I’d wait to upgrade mobo until DirectStorage becomes a thing

so would their be any negatives to keeping the same mobo etc as i dont want to risk anything going wrong and dont want a bottleneck on any performance

Also what are the recomended brands / companies to get the 3060 from and are there any ways i can maybe get a better gpu (while staying nvidia) for a similar price.

Currently im planning on getting the MSI RTX 3060 Gaming but im curious to know if i can get anything better for a similar price since ive got a bit more money to spare for pc parts cosidering the fact that im keeping the same mobo, ssd and ram

no, no negatives at all.

I would get an AMD 6700xt which is about on par with the 3070 in rasterization, (most games), but slower in ray tracing. Much faster than the 3060 and less expensive than the 3070.

If staying nvidia, you could always go for a used 3070.
