I have a gaming pc upstairs which is connected to my Samsung qled downstairs via a 25 meter fibre optic hdmi2.1 cable. (Inspiration from linus)

Now for the first 6 months everything worked fine but as of now I'm getting no audio.

I've tried every setting that I can think to change both on windows 11 & on the TV but still can't get audio to work.

Sound would usually come out via my soundbar which is connected via earc or via headset connected via the tvs optical port but now I can't get either.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Reinstall sound drivers, just uninstall in task manager and reboot, if that doesnt work, boot an ubuntu live usb to check if they work there, if they dont, its dead hardware causing the issue at which point you go and buy a 7 dollar usb sound adapter.

Not to second-guess SiliconMagician, but I wouldn't bet on dead hardware, I've seen and heard enough here already from folks having similar and other issues after upgrading to Win11 that I won't touch it. For years now, Microsoft has released dumpster fires that require updates and patches (some constant), then when the existing dumpster fire is finally somewhat stable and secure, they start scaring people into upgrading to the new, "improved" dumpster fire by dropping support for the existing one. Not to mention the built-in spying and Microsloth's assertion that THEY own your PC, not you.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

Cheers for the reply,

Already tried drivers, audio does work fine if I'm using via monitor/ tv/headset upstairs.

I'm convinced it's some kind of setting or possible conflicting hardware issue

The pc is connected to monitor via DP & headset  via usb upstairs (which all works fine) & connected to tv & dolby atmos soundbar downstairs via hdmi 2.1 from the gpu.

Really scratching my head as it literally just stopped working one day.

Are the any audio settings within nvidia settings that I could have missed?
