Hello, I have a problem with my PC a friend recommended this forum, so I'll explain everything. Thank you in advance for your time !

Motherboard : Asus PRIME X370-A
CPU : AMD Ryzen 5 1600 (3.2 GHz)
GPU : Asus Radeon RX 570 ROG STRIX OC, 4 Go
RAM 1 & 3 : DDR4 Ballistix Sport LT, Red, 2 x 4 Go, 2400 MHz, CAS 16
Ram 2 & 4 : DDR4 T-FORCE Vulcan Z, Red, 8 Go (2 x 4 Go), 2666 MHz, CAS 18

My friend gave me his old AMD Ryzen 5 3600 so a huge improvement over my old R5 1600. But to use it I needed to update my BIOS, I went to Asus website and downloaded the version compatible with the 3600 and the download gave me the version "6042" https://www.asus.com/supportonly/PRIME X370-A/HelpDesk_CPU/

I did the update in my BIOS with the .cap file on my FAT32 USB, and it was a success ! "Update successfully ! The system will now reset" and then... nothing.
I waited 1h and still nothing, so I tried to reset the CMOS but nothing, same when I changed the CPU with the new one. I also tried to unplug all the SATA

What can I do ? The computer start, there are the lights, the fans etc but that's it, nothing on my monitor.

I already asked in Tom's Hardward, and they told me this is because I needed a chipset update before updating my BIOS and I should contact ASUS and/or buy a new mobo

Thank you in advance for your time

Chipset drivers do not affect the POST (Power On Self Test) or BOOT. They affect the usage of the PC when they are loaded, in Windows (or Linux).

When replacing the CPU, did you take any other part out, like the GPU?

Did you plug your display cable into the GPU and not the motherboard after you reconnected everything?

Connected to the motherboard can't have any image because only the Ryzen CPU-s that have G in the name (the 3400G, 5600G and such) have integrated graphics.

Can you try the graphics card in a different PC and a different graphics card in your PC?

Maybe try only 1 stick of RAM?

Try another stick of RAM.

On page 20 of the user manual
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/SocketAM4/PRIME_X370-A/E12715_PRIME_X370-A_UM_WEB.pdf

You have the order in which the slots should be filled.

So try just the Ballistix or the T-Force. 1 stick.

Once you find which work, try the combination. 1-2-3-4

Ok so this is quite interesting, I'll explain everything :

Firstly, thank you again for you knowledge I can access my computer, after the reset tpm the PC could finally boot !

But this is not the end of the problem, the PC boot when there is only ONE RAM in the slot A2 ! More RAM = same bug as before with 1 long then 2 shorts beep. Other problem, I can't use my monitor if this is connected with a display port, only HDMI works for now ! I have other strange problem like microphone not working normally but this isn't a main issue.

Thank you again, at least I can access my file for now

your matching RAM right, so the same 2 RAM sticks should be in A2 and B2, and the other ones in A1 and B1.. just want to make sure that is the case...

So you should have the Ballistix in A2 and B2, and the tforce in a1 and b1...

Yes, both Triforce in A2 & B2 and Ballistix in A1 & B1

did you try 1 stick in each different slot? Maybe you have a slot thats dead?

So start with 1 stick in A1, then move that 1 stick to A2, and so on... this will at least tell you if you have any issues with the RAM slots... (i think this will work lol)

Ok so I tried, only one stick of RAM it works in A1 and A2 but not B1 and B2. 2 sticks of RAM A1 & B1 doesn't work same with A2 & B2

BUT A1 & A2 works I have 8 Go but windows refuses to boot

Idk man. Might be a dead Mobo. Or your jave a memory channel that's acting up in the CPU..

Someone smarter then me will have to step on. I got nothing left to suggest

Hello!

Gotta start over.

Put the 1600 in, disconnect you drives except the DVD reader.

Use the system disk and boot from it.

Select bios recovery.

Flash.

Then update chipset drivers (accurate suggestion) and then flash desired revision. The system will restart, yes. If nothing happens power down.

Swap the processors.

During the swap turn the PSU off and remove the battery 10 minutes.

Jump clear cmos pins for 10 seconds.

Then assemble.

Unless the board has flash back, this is the only proceedure unless you buy a programmer.

Good Luck! 🍀
