New CPU, Opinions?

Hey all 

 

I've had this issue with my PC for a while now; starting to annoy me massively. Very temperamental. Will work for a month straight with no issues and then be plagued every day.  

 

 

So, I'm going to jump to a new platform. I currently have the R7 5800x paired with a MSI X570 Meg Ace board. I could fetch around £350-£400 for both (eBay Prices)

 

Would it be sensible to jump to the i5 12400f plus a Gigabyte B660 Gaming X DDR4. I'm aware I lose 2 cores in the process. Both can be had for around £350 new for me 

 

Thoughts?
