Power button LED cable mod question

So, I bought 2 power buttons, one for the main power button, and one used as a reset button. I'm looking at trying to mod the power LED +/- on the power button thats being used as a reset button. When the main power button gets powered on, both power button LEDs come on. Same on the off state but the LEDs are off. My question is should I put a resistor in case of signal interference, or should I not worry about it?

i would put a resistor because there is a chance it could short or have signal interference

Ok. How do I know what resistor to use? I have the technical data on hand.

Depends on how bright you want the LED. 10k should be fine.

Lowest allowed resistance depends on what the mainboard can deliver. 50-200 Ohm is about the brightest you can go. Depends on the LED forward voltage and if your connector is 3.3V or 5V but I think PC IO is still 5V.

Alright. Thanks Noxitb, and James Evens for y'alls help.
