Cannot run script file "c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\officeicon.vbs" error when uninstalling

I notice that when I attempt to uninstall an app like itunes, I get the error that script file c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\officeicon.vbs cannot be found. i did look and verify that the file is not at that location, but why is it running this during uinstall? I have diagnose that

  • Note that the error said Script file is missing and not the script engine is not setup. Script engine appears to be running.
  • In Regedit, I verify that the vbs type appears to be mapped properly.
  • I attempted to repair Office.
  • I looked online and notice that I am not the only one that has this issue, but no one appears to know what the file is for. The solution posted was to create an empty file officeicon.vbs, but that doesn't actually solve the issue, just make the symptoms invisible.
  • I can't seen any reference to officeicon.vbs in regeddit.
  • Ran SFC /scannow and found no issues.
