Budget ($15,000):

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: This will be running fluid simulations, and I have been told the main bottleneck will be ram.

Hello I have lucked my way into an undergrad research project where I am building server esque PC. I will be the first to say I am way under qualified to be working on hardware of this level, but here I am. So I was told are main concern was to have 2Tb of RAM and keep it around $15,000, everything else doesn't really matter. Below is the parts list of what we have chosen if anyone could let me know if I have made any great blunders or if there are better options please let me know.

Motherboard QVL doesn't list that CPU. Would recommend sticking to CPUs listed here.

As noted, motherboard QVL does not include cpu.

Is the memory ECC and is it on the motherboard's QVL?

The NH-U14S is incompatible with socket SP3. See https://ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/AMD-Epyc-7413-1271 for Noctua compatible cpu coolers. Make sure you cross check with the Noctua motherboard QVL for any cooler being considered.

Oh my, I wish I could have this much money to spend for a PC 🙃

Anyways, I was searching for RAM with 3200MHz because the chips IMC is setup for that speed. But I couldn't find any, at least not on Newegg.

The Gigabyte motherboard is for AMD EPYC 7003 series processor family which means that the entire EPYC 7003 processors line will work just fine here. I wouldn't worry too much about the ECC random access memory modules. This CPU will be compatible with it. Besides, this is a server motherboard and you have no intention of overclocking. It's not like to you need to focus on that. I remember even Linus was showcasing some server setup a while ago and he was just using basic ECC RAM modules. I don't remember the frequency but it was rather un-important with 2TB's.

The memory is ECC but it is NEMIX which is not on the QVL although I was not able to find any other ram companies selling this capacity on consumer sites.

Presumably the memory NEMIX lists for the motherboard are valid, https://nemixram.com/amd-epyc-memory/gigabyte-amd-epyc-motherboards/mz32-ar0/
