Hey all, I really need help. So recently I water-cooled my PC but hit a flurry of problems. As of right now my PC screen goes black randomly, usually when trying to play a game. The display drivers are all up to date. My graphics card is an MSI 3070Ti Gaming Force X Trio. It is installed into my motherboard with a PCIE Gen 3 riser cable.

In BIOS, for Onboard Devices Configuration, PCIEX16_1 Mode is set to GEN 3. It may also be worth noting that CSM is enabled because when I had installed my Ryzen 7 5800X, for some reason, my computer booted straight into bios with no boot priority options.

I have an ROG Strix X570-E Gaming MB if that’s important to know.

Any help would be much appreciated, I am mega stressed. Thanks!

Have you tried running your GPU without riser cable?

Only once, but that was because we had to change PCIEX16_1 Mode to GEN 3. That was because on boot-up, the screen wouldn’t turn on and the white VGA light on the motherboard was lit.

Hmm... I would try to remove riser cable, clear CMOS/BIOS, plug GPU in to second PCIe slot and see if it helps.

Only problem with that is my loop is already set. The tubes are all bent because micro center had no 90* fittings.

Should I try getting a Gen 4 riser? It would still be a tedious change but setting the gpu into the MB regularly is a no-go atm

so they sell you a gen4 system... with gen3 riser? .. sound like they didn't have gen4 riser cable either..

when did you buy it?..  i would have returned it and let them fix it 😄

my brain hurts from looking at this build.. it's soo wrong.. 😄

if you have gsync enabled.. try to disable that first.. i've found that unstable myself..  screen going blank while swapping between HDR not HDR .. etc.. so i'm running without gsync now much better.

well then.. you'll have to empty the loop and disconnect the GPU to troubleshoot this one... one of the drawbacks with hard tubes.

to test you can run the GPU with water in it and plug the holes where the tubes are now...  not long tho.  and not in games.

I would try to get a gen4 riser with the right bracket.. some are 90 degrees mounted, some are not so check what you need before you buy. and try with that. .. mine are straight down.. 😄 had to check physicaly on the pictures before i ordered. and you'll need the correct length.

edit: if you havn't tried yet.. upgrade all drivers. and download latest chipset drivers from amd... do a DDU of the GPU drivers from safemode before installing new.
