windows doesnt detect my optical drive

i have recently purchased a samsung blu ray combo writer drive. i plugged in the sata power and data cables and it seems to work. however it doesnt display on '' my computer''. i tried to put in the 'manual' disk which it came with. drive opens, i place disk in, it retracts. the optical drive lights up and make noises (im guessing it works, no rattling, nice and smooth sound) i look back on my screen and nothing seems to be happening, the disk i placed had no affect. 

 

i went online for help, i did the ''regedit'' way but i have no 'uupper filters'' or ''lower filters''. i've gone into the bios/UEFI and it appears there (name, serial number, make etc) but not when i go into ''my computer'' 

 

Anybody know what to do?

Try the BIOS again, it should work.....

I have an optical drive, and it detected it fine.

On what sata port is it connected? do you have a cardreader?

i dont have a card reader but its in sata 2 port

i checked the bios but it still isnt detected. i noticed a detail: S.M.A.R.T and necxt to it it says ''not supported'' or something along those lines. i checked my hard drive and it said ''S.M.A.R.T Supported''
