I figured Optical drive would be a storage, well this been happening for over a day.

I started the PC and it usually do this in order:

>My GPU Name on top left corner

>Then Load up In these order:

          Memory runs dual channel interleaved

     Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 3.00Ghz(273x11) L2 Cache -blabladontremember

  1. IDE 0 Master: [MY 500GB HDD]
  2. IDE 0 Slave : [MY SAMSUNG WRITEMASTER]
  3. IDE 1 Master: [MY 75GB HDD]
  4. IDE 1 Slave: None

>Then load up some stuff and ends with :Verifying DMI Pool.....................

>Windows logo came on

But this time my IDE 0 Slave failed to load instead im stuck in the startrup windows(the number 2 in the list up to) with the IDE 0 Slave empty.. the pc is just loading it but it never did, figured that it might be broken, pulled out my pc, lay it down, unplug the power connector to the Optical Drive and hook everything back to normal and bam! its good to go and showed:

  1. IDE 0 Master: [MY 500GB HDD]
  2. IDE 0 Slave : None
  3. IDE 1 Master: [MY 75GB HDD]
  4. IDE 1 Slave: None

Then go about the loading process. I tried plugging it back to the optical drive and it didnt boot up again can it be my Samsung Writemaster who failed to read every cd i choke it with?

hey man. take the hint and destroy that monstrosity :P

but in a lll honesty that is strange. when i had an optical drive it never came up as a slave

Strange thing again: I changed that setting a month ago so the Optical drive is a IDE 1 Master whilst the 75GB HDD is the IDE 0 Slave, booted up and it worked next day it went back to normal and i just go with it...

Make sure all IDE ports are set to AUTO so they pick up what ever is plugged in to it. Make sure all IDE cables are fully inserted but that no pins are twisted or pushed back as can happen.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

I've seen IDE cables go bad, swap them around from one pair to the other.
