Hey all, out of ideas and need help.

I'm doing a cpu upgrade on a friend's pc from a 3700x to a 5600x. Everything runs fine with the 3700x but when we swap it out it'll boot up just fine and look all good. However when we try to launch a game like warzone or apex (something more demanding I imagine) the pc instantly reboots and lights up the CPU and DRAM error lights, then boots up completely fine again. I've tried using completely different ram to see if that was the issue to no avail. I don't think it's an overheating issue as it reboots at the exact same point every time and we monitor temps with nothing unusual. The Mobo has an 8 pin and a 4 pin supplimentary power for the CPU which we only are using the 8 pin. This works fine for the 3700x and I doubt the 5600x is drawing any more power. The power supply also doesn't have any extra CPU power cables. Also running the newest bios. A couple possibly unrelated issues, I enabled xmp using the swapped ram, booted up just fine. However we went to launch warzone and it said there is no games in the folder, even though we can manually locate it no issue. Also the pc will not boot at all if I try to enable xmp settings or clock any higher than 3200 with the original ram which then I have to cmos reset if I try.

Totally put of ideas.

Specs:

ASRock b550 pro4

Ripjaws 3600 2x8

650w EVGA psu

Ryzen 5600x

EVGA rtx 3070

Can a CPU cause a boot loop?

One bend or misaligned pin can cause an infinite boot loop.

............

Can CPU cause restarts?

There are several reasons why processors can overheat and one thing is clear – when it does, it brings a host of problems. And, yes, an overheated processor can be the reason why a computer reboots randomly and repeatedly. ... It is also a good time to check if the processor fan is working properly.

Yup so we've actually tried 2 different 5600x. Both with the exact same issue. Overheating is not the issue as we have monitored the temps while doing many other tests with no abnormalities.
