Clean Install for new SSD

I recently got a new SSD......Samsung Evo 1TB. I was trying to use the data migration software but the rep told me that since I have a partition for recovery, it would not let the clone go through. therefore I want to use a clean install but this OS was windows 8 and I used an upgrade to 8.1. This computer is Dell. If I use a clean install, should I use win 8 or 8.1 iso to install. If it is win 8, am I still capable of upgrading to 8.1

If your current OS is Windows 8.1 use the ISO for 8.1 just make sure to download keyfinder to jog down the Windows product key in case it's not the same as wherever Dell placed the sticker.

If your computer came with Windows 8, re-install Windows 8 on the drive. Use product key. Update Windows. Upgrade to 8.1 through the Windows store.
