Hi guys I need some advice on how to proceed with a broken DP port on my ROG GL502 laptop.

I mainly use my HDMI port to output video to my monitor so the broken port doesn't affect my daily usage at all, but realizing it's the only thing stopping me from using my newly acquired HP Reverb G2 makes me want to somehow get it fixed. I went to ASUS about the problem but they said the broken port is soldered onto the motherboard so replacing the port means replacing the entire board. They quoted me about half of the entire laptop's original price... I could probably budget a 3070 rig for just a bit more.

So my question is this: should I try getting the laptop fixed by third party technicians (or even if that will work at all) or should I just let my VR headset collect dust until it's finally time to move on?
