Hello boys and girls!

Couple of months ago I posted here regarding a PC build that I am looking to buy and here I am a proud owner of  Ryzen 5600x/RTX 3070, however the pride kinda ends here with only the names, rest of the configuration is:

650W Gold PSU
2 x 8GB Kingston CL17 3600Mhz running on D.O.C.P.
B550 Asus Gaming Plus
AIO for the CPU

Before I proceed I want to note that I've ran FurMark on 1080p everything else maxed out without issues capping GPU temps at 62-63C, used " sfc /scannow " as well, used PSU wattage calculator as well, 0 issues.

The issues I am having is regarding games like :

  • The Witcher 3 (shadows are not being rendered properly), suddenly crashing (closing the .exe and going straight to desktop) - 0 messages here.
  • Apex Legends - different textures are being dragged out all over the screen having 0 ability to play, here is a post to EA about it:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Textures-bug/m-p/9765669#M44728

Here is a post requiring assistance from nVidia:
    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/geforce-graphics-cards/5/414979/rtx-3070-textures-bug/ .

    https://ibb.co/RBLbQkc
    https://ibb.co/Xxf1bWK
    https://ibb.co/y6QQGMN

Errors with Apex were the most disgusting ones, accompanied by errors like "ERROR - DEVICE_HUNG" and "DXGI ERROR DEVICE REMOVED" , which I think I've read everything about them and all the solutions however 0 success.
  • Other games I've run issues are League of Legends and Valorant, where strange little blue squares appear or green ones, like where a shade needs to be cast on and it cannot render it and just appear like that 🧪 however square :D , It is strange, since when I go to them or pass them by, they literally appear/disappear as a shadow should, that is casted by an object.
  • Another instance is one time I got these lines also trying to play 4k music video on YouTube.

Things I have tried to do to fix it is to start with, I tried updating the drivers, as far as I know only 2 GRD are available for RTX 3070, both are tried with DDU/Safe mode removal and installation of the new drivers - 0 success, I've also tried repairing/updating/re-installing the games, did not help, updated DirectX - 0 success, I am mentioning DirectX since  on Tomb Raider Rise of the Tomb Raired during launch there is an option to select if you want to use DX12 and when I turned it off to use DX11 it almost played perfectly without any issue for 40 min and then only on 2 soldiers 2 of the textures broke by going all over the screen, however I can live with that ( I am that desperate). Another thing is that I recently updated BIOS on the 24th  I think of November, tried factory  RAM speed (2400Mhz) or whatever it is called, when not messed with via the BIOS settings, also tried MSI AfterBurner to underclock the card, however it seems I could not do it, any limitations that I set to back to FE I think was around 1725 Mhz, was not success, the card just used its own factory overclock at 1825 Mhz, like MSI AfterBurner did nothing, Tried also re-slotting the card again 0 impact.

Yesterday I contacted my sales store that I bought the PC from and explained them everything, unfortunately they seemed to be less educated in this than me :( and recommended DDU/Drivers process, which I've already done. Now there is 0 overclock on any of it except the factory one for 3070 TUF and the D.O.C.P profile for the RAM, I've tweaked only "Power management - Prefer maximum performance" in nVidia control panel and turned V-sync off from there. From Windows settings I've set the power plan to - Ultimate and added Apex Legends to run with maximum performance. This seemed to at least let me in game and skip the "driver_hung" and "device_removed" errors, which simply break the game instantly.

I will be more than happy to get some advices, since this situation is getting Anjelina Jolie during Tomb Raider times and having no manhood to enjoy it...... Thank you again for reading through my wall of tears, get something that goes with salt to  enjoy it at least.

Wish you all the best and stay safe!

Regards,

UPDATE -> Played Shadow of the tomb raider just now 0 issues except the fact that I wasn't able to find RTX setting to turn it on, however maxed out 0 issues.

  • 4 months later...

What is concerning is that I am having the same issue, with the same gpu and cpu combo. I believe that this is a coincidence but it is still concerning.

specs:

ryzen 5 5600x

rtx 3070 (gigabyte)

x570 auros motherboard

850W PSU

2x8 3000 mhz G-skill RAM

I received the same dxgi device removed error and the device hung error in apex legends and the weird texture stretching glitch in every game I have played so far minus a few games like minecraft.

Games I received the texture stretching bug include: Rust, Apex legends, CSGO (one time, could be unrelated), Warzone, Mordhau and Escape from Tarkov

All of these games run on Directx

whereas minecraft runs on OpenGL

I have had other games which run on DirectX that haven't experienced this problem sucheas Wargame Red Dragon but I havent played it that extensively so its possible that a problem could appear if I played it more.

Fixes I tried were as follows:

1.update graphics drivers

2.clean install graphics drivers using ddu

3.tried to reset windows and do a cloud download (failed with error "Windows reset failed: no changes were made")

4.try run sfc /scannow (failed)

5.do chkdsk scan of ssd and hdd

6.repair windows from USB

7.repair DirectX (even though dx diag doesnt show any issue)

8.install older graphics drivers (switch to 461.09 from 465.89)

I have also benchmarked my hardware (with no irregular temperatures or performance) and compared it to other defective hardware and it doesn't seem like a hardware issue.

My theory is that there is a problem with the latest version of DirectX 12 and windows which is causing a graphical problem with certain textures and colours. I am going to try fix my problem with resetting windows and redownload it from the cloud. If this doesnt work I am going to rollback my DirectX 12 to a previous version.

I'm also going to install the assets from DX11, DX10 and DX9 incase there is some missing assets. (prebuilt pc)

If none of this works I am sending the pc back to the retailer.

If you have since found a fix to this issue then please tell me

Many thanks to anyone who helps and Im sorry for reviving an old post but this was the only person I found with the same issue

Hey, The "spikes" still show and its annoying, however the "Removed device" error was almost stopped or I think it has by capping the FPS to 120 and adding whole Origin/Apex game folder within Windows defender exclusion list.

Take a look at the threads here as well:

I'll try the RAM stuff tomorrow:
