Guys i am currently building my first pc and after watching the zen 3 presentation i have some problem to vhose the cpu. I will mostly use blender, play videogames and use software like unreal engine.

The principal problem is the cooler. The 3700x come with a cooler but the 5800x not so if i want a zen3 i have to spend about 100 bucks more anf it wont fit the budget. Do you think that is better, for my workload, to have the 2 extra cores or have a general more powerfull cpu?

I already own a b550-f wifi mobo.

Blender will benefit more from the 3700X but if the single threaded gains are accurate from AMD then the 5600X would be faster for gaming and some unreal stuff and the multi threaded performance in blender would be only a tiny bit behind the 3700X

also AMD might announce a 5700X that does come with a cooler so if you can wait you might get a better opportunity

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

I can and probably will be wrong with this assumption, but let's assume Zen 3 is 25% better than Zen 2, so:

Zen 3 5600x = 1.25 * 6 (cores) = 7.5

Zen 2 3700x = 1 * 8 (cores) = 8

Based on this, I would go with Zen 3 because it should behave similar in performance*** but newer architecture usually means better support overall.

*** Assuming Zen 3 is 25% better overall

not that simple at all. you have to also look at the new architecture, cache, speed, and yes core count, but for gaming, dont need more cores
