I acquired an old H8-1021 for free. Here is the link to the PC: https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c02863037

I was hoping to upgrade it to be semi serviceable for the wife to play games like the sims or planet coaster.

So far my thoughts were to pop out the 6670 (which needs replacing anyways as the blower doesn't work) with a zodiac 1650.

Any other suggestions on how to make this PC serviceable with small upgrades on the cheap? Thanks!

Used i7, upgrade to 8/16GB of RAM if it hasn't already, cheap SSD, and yeah that GPU should be fine I think (although I am not too familiar with modern GPUs).

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. It's got 8gb but another 8gb of ddr3 is pretty cheap. I got an SSD that I'll slap in there. the 1650 doesn't need external power so it should just drop in as a replacement. I couldn't figure out if I needed low profile or not though.

It doesn't look like it needs a low profile GPU, so I'd just get the cheapest version, regardless of whether it is low profile or not.
