New SSD wont initialize

Hey guys i have installed a new Western Digital 500gb SSD and it will not initialize in disk management. I right click it and the Initialize disk option is greyed out. If someone could help i would greatly appreciate it. I am currently out of space on my PC.

May i know where you got the SSD from? Was it USED or BRAND NEW?

Brand new just got it from walmart because they are the only store open ATM, is it doa?

Could you also check if the SSD's cables are plugged in completely?

would it hurt to completely unplug it and plug it back in?

Format it, but first look at a tutorial if you are not sure what to do:

I just did it my PC shit out for about a minute but it seems to be done and working now, it was really weird both of my screen went black and stayed that way for a minute or so
