So I've flashed my GPU BIOs and achieved a Core clock of 1305Mhz but really this hasn't done much in games but add a lot of heat and noise so my question is that if I backed off the clocks and reduced heat and noise then added another card would that be worth it or should I get a r9 290/290x or 780/780ti?

The 660ti I have now runs everything at max but battlefield 4 right now and I won't be playing any games more demanding than bf4 probably since I play fps games mostly so if you think another 660ti in sli would do it tell me below.

Typically it is not good to SLI low end cards but it could be worth it since the performance would be better than just buying a different card. However I would still recommend you wait for maxwell since by then the card that is in the same price point as the 660ti will hopefully be better. Also have you touched memory speeds? Memory bandwidth is low on Nvidia cards and especially the 660ti.

You can get 660ti's on ebay for as low as $175 used so I'm not really concerned about a price drop

I don't even mean for the price drop. You could buy a second, use it until the 9xx series and then maybe use those other cards in another build down the line. Or just wait till the 800 series and upgrade then :P

660 Ti is still a beast card though. I reckon you could probably wait it out for one more generation.

I actually just unlocked my own BIOS and I am having a blast OCing it again. If you get that memory clock fast enough you can get 680 league performance. A 680 is just a 660ti with a better core clock and bigger memory bus. So you can compensate by boosting the memory. Of course it is still not as good it gets pretty close considering it is way cheaper.

I can't justify the price of the 780ti but the 780 is a good quite and cool card.  As you probably know AMD cards tend to create more heat and become very loud at full load.  SLI it not very good if you are going for a cool and quite system but if you are going for a sexy looking dual SLI setup then I won't stand in your way.  If you want RAW speed the 290 has it but kicks out a lot of heat and depending on the cooler, a lot of noise.  So if I were you and had enough money, I would go with the 780.  The 800 series will most likely come out next year or late Q4.  So I think the 780 will best suit your needs.  You could sell your 660 ti for around $150-$200 which is not bad and that is about 3 AAA titles right there.

A 660Ti is a Decent card, though, I would reccomend a GTX 760 in SLI, or a single 770 or 780, about the same price as 2 760s.
