Hey I have bought G.Skill Sniper 2x8 @1600 RAMs and I use a Asus Maximus VI Impact and a Noctua NH-L12. So i want to try installing another 120mm fan but I  think (not tried it yet) that the RAMs are to high. Now i know you can remove heatsink from the RAM but how bad is it really for the temps ? will it be just 1-5C° more and will it be a problem for the RAM? Can I mount the Heatsink back? best would be if someone has this RAMs and tested it allready :D

thx for u help guys

and as allways, sorry for my bad english :D

1600 Shouldn't be a problem without a heatsink.

Not that bad, though I've no experience with stripped RAM's. Then 120 fan you want to put on the NH-L12 i figure is instead of the 92mm(or whatever sixe it is) one, right? There will get blown air directly on the RAM. About the temperature; I've heard that 'stripped' RAM isn't really a matter @ 1600 (or lower), though I could be wrong.

They're usually fairly stuck on. You may rip something off because of the glue that is used.

The RAM sticks may get too hot to run but you could frankenstein on a low profile heat spreader from another ram kit. (if you're keen on modding, and know how to)

EDIT: didn't see that they were 1600mhz... so should be fine with heat I think.
