Fault or design error. I have a Seagate Expansion 1Tb (ST1000LM 035-1RK172) USB hard drive. The hard drive works quite normally, but it will never go into standby mode if the drive forces the standby mode to restart in a few seconds. I moved the disk to a new enclosure (Deltaco MAP-GD47C). Now the hard drive goes into self-stanby mode and stays "sleeping" until the drive is used. I bought a new USB hard drive Lacie 4Tb Porche Design Mobile P9227. This case also has a Seagate disk inside (ST4000LM024-2AN17V) and exactly the same situation as the expansion disk mentioned above. Before you suggest changing the power saving settings or adjusting the spin-down setting, neither has any effect. Let me just say that the previous Seagate Expansion lasted 24/7 continuous writing for only 7 months. I know well that they are not meant for 24/7 use, but when the disk breaks I always get a replacement.

Seagate has a GOOD WARRANTY.
