Hi all

I have a one year old PC build with specs below. It is good for most games but is struggling on some titles like AC Origins/Odyssey on even medium settings on my 1080p 144Hz as it never gets anywhere near 144Hz.

I was wondering what the upgrade options are. 'Moderate' budget, looking for bang for buck so can stretch for a genuine improvement, but also interested in any quick fix that is cheap. I haven't kept up to date with new components in 2019 and seems to be a much more interesting year than 2018 so any help is very welcome.

  • Ryzen 5 2600 at 4.1GHz, NH-D15 cooler
  • ASRock B450 gaming mini-ITX
  • 2x8GB RAM 3200MHz
  • Samsung 970 Evo 500 GB M.2
  • MSI ARMOR GTX 1070
  • EVGA G3 550W Gold

Benchmarks: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/21184974

Other question - not sure why my memory is at 2900 in the test, pretty sure I disabled XMP

Cheers

I'd wait until BF, then perhaps sell the 1070 and get something like a 5700 XT or a 2070S.

Or wait until new 7nm GPU from nvidia, or wait for Zen 2+/3. the 3600/3700x right now imo aren't really a worthwhile upgrade if you're still going to be on a 1070.

Having never heard of it before... I just watched the GN review of the 5700 XT and it seems pretty good for the price. Looks like up to 50% FPS increase on a 1070 for more or less the price I paid for the 1070 last year?!

Are the GPU prices finally coming back down?

I also understand I can drop a 3600/3700X straight into a B450 motherboard, do we know if that is still possible with the next generation Zen? (4xxx series?)
